Cytochrome Oxidase Subunit II: Potential Marker for the Identification of Forensically Significant Species of Coleoptera—A Preliminary Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
The foremost concern in forensic entomology is the explicit identification of species recovered from crime scene. From different orders insects, Diptera prime focus this field, followed by Coleoptera, whose can be extremely helpful for corpses later decomposition stages. In study, cytochrome oxidase subunit II (COII) was used to check its adequacy as a genetic marker and create reference database eleven belonging five families namely, Silphidae, Staphylinidae, Histeridae, Dermestidae Scarabaeidae, two states India assist accurate imperative beetle medico-legal entomology. To achieve this, standard protocols DNA isolation, amplification sequencing were followed. We concluded that COII gene molecular forensically relevant species, observed similarities between phylogenetic relationship constructed morphological data.

Cytochrome oxidase II gene “short fragment” applicability in identification of forensically important insects
Correct insect identification is an important issue in the forensic entomological analysis. Short DNA segments can be used to uniquely identify species. In order to be useful as a forensic tool, a short DNA sequence must be not only easily sequenced, but also contains enough variation to generate unique identifiers at either the species or population levels. In the present study, we assessed th...
متن کاملIdentification of the forensically important flies (Diptera: Muscidae) based on cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) gene in China
Accurate species identification is a crucial step in forensic entomology, as the insect collected on a corpse can provide useful information for estimation of postmortem interval (PMI). However, morphological distinction may on occasion be impossible to the adult flies and nymphs of the same genus. DNA-based method can be used as a supplemental means of morphological method. In this study, 31 f...
